Beginning of the End
04:28
|
|||
My time in the mortal realm is almost to an end. The days of old are just a fleeting memory as I live out my final hours. But fret not,
for I will always be a guardian of middle earth even as I transcend beyond the mortal plane. I have much to tell you before I go, stories that aren't
in any book or scroll. Stories that span over a millennia. My story. Let me take you on one last journey filled with perilous adventures, masters of
the arcane, and unlikely friendships. Like my alliance with the dwarves. I gained favor with them after seeking an audience with their king while on a
quest to to take on the dragon king. A necromancer laid claim to the dragon king's mind and was wreaking havoc on the dwarven city that dwelled below
his mountain. The only way to free the dragon king was to bring him close to death so that the grip of the necromancer would release. I have aided
many kings in battle against the evil forces that dwell in the dark corners of the world. Through these battles I have gained many allies and an even
greater number of enemies. My knowledge of the arcane has allowed me to protect middle earth for a dozen life times. My mastery of magic was passed
down to me by my master, who's name has been lost to time. I found my master while I was traveling through the forest just east of the dragon king's
mountain, searching for hidden knowledge. I had lost my way and came upon a hut by a riverside that ran through the forest. This place was not on any
map nor was it recorded in any of the ancient texts. It was as if it was hidden from the rest of the world. Lost and unable to find my way I knocked
on the door of the hut. This is when I first met my master, my teacher of the arcane. This is also the start of my journey, the beginning of our story.
So take a seat, for this tale is even longer than the last.

A Wizard's Tale
03:37
|

There once was a man
In seek of knowledge
He traveled far
Into the forest
Down the path he went
To find a dwelling
That sat upon a hill
Down by the river
And he knocked on the door of the hut
With each knock the door would not stay shut
He traveled through the forest
Down by the riverside
His fate was made that day
Forever destiny changed
He was greeted
By an old man
Pointy hat and dusty robes
Through the air magic flows
All it took
Was one glance
To find purpose
In this peculiar circumstance
The old man beckoned him in his hut
With each word the door would not stay shut
He traveled through the forest
Down by the riverside
His fate was made that day
Forever destiny changed
Standing upon the hillside
He watches over the realm
With each breath that he takes
Evil he will overwhelm
He traveled through the forest
Down by the riverside
His fate was made that day
Forever destiny changed
Standing upon the hillside
He watches over the realm
With each breath that he takes
Evil he will overwhelm

We must fight
What can be done?

We will fight
To the death
To protect
What is left
Even if
Blood is shed
We will fight
Til' we're dead
Death, fills the air
Day is done
Everywhere

In despair
Its begun
Say a prayer
What can be done?
We will fight
To the death
To protect
What is left
Even if
Blood is shed
We will fight

Meeting of the Nobles
03:36
|
|||
WIZARD: After reaching Abrolum I gained an audience with their king. It was time to sit down and discuss the threat that loomed over his kingdom. He called forth his most trusted allies, nobles living within Abrolum.
These nobles brought with them their sons to help fight against the Dragon King. During this meeting is when I first learned of the Necromancer. The Necromancer cast a spell on the Dragon King while he was hidden
under a veil of darkness. This spell would allow him to control the Dragon King... but at a cost. It is as if the Necromancer used blood magic, sharing his life force with the Dragon King in order to control him.
Weakening the Dragon King would in turn weaken the Necromancer so there will be no doubt that the Necromancer is hiding atop the mountain. The battle will be tricky and our enemy fierce. If the Dragon King took
flight during our battle, we would stand little chance against him. But if I were to use my magic to keep him grounded, the dwarves would be able to weaken him until I could release the grip of the Necromancer.
I fear that this won't be the end of this quest but we will be able to stop the Dragon King from completely destroying Abrolum. We must save the Dragon King because the dwarves made a pact with him hundreds of years
ago. As long as the dwarves keep the integrity of the mountain in check the Dragon King will watch over the surrounding lands. With this information a new party was formed of man and dwarf and we set out to the
top of the mountain.

The Necromancer
01:45
|
|||
He comes at night unseen, traveling under a veil of darkness. An evil aura emanates around his very being. The mere mention of his name brings fear to those who speak it. The nearby villages lay in wait for their time to come as he brings forth his army of the dead. Those who see his face do
not live to tell the tale. He is a scourge upon middle earth and an abomination to the magical world. It is time for his reign over the undead to come to an end. It is time for him to return back to the underworld. For he is, the Necromancer.

Our heroes set off
To the top of the mountain
Lead by the wizard
With his dwarven companions
There they will face a great foe
Consumed by magic
Breath like fiery brimstone
He is the king of dragons
In the distance of Abrolum
They hear the mountain's cry
Black magic fills the air
The necromancer must die
Armed with magic, axes, and spirit
To the base of the mountain they go
The path turns to stone and rock
Soon they will face their greatest foe
Climbing the rocks of the mountain side
Evil voices surround the air
The necromancer chants his song
Deep within the dragon king's lair
Tattered and tired our heroes climb higher
To the top of the mountain's peak
Life or death they take one more breath
And the wizard turns to his party to speak
Prepare yourself, for this will be the most important battle of your lives!
Our heroes set off
To the top of the mountain
Lead by the wizard
With his dwarven companions
There they will face a great foe
Consumed by magic
Breath like fiery brimstone
He is the king of dragons
The wizard faces his foe
With the rest of our heroes
Soon they will fight to the death
Til their last breath

As my party approached the top of the mountain, the Dragon King came into sight. Scales as large as shields, fangs as sharp as steel, and breath hotter than a thousand suns.
His eyes cried out for vengeance as he reared back his head to let out a deafening roar. The Necromancer is near. The fight for all of our lives, begins now.
We face each other, both on our last leg. But today is not the day. I will not be felled.
We collided for the last time. The Dragon King lay unconscious. With the last of my magic, I released the grip of the Necromancer and freed the Dragon King. But during our fight,
the Necromancer made his escape. He fled in the direction of Dunwich, a village on the outskirts of the forest. I must regain my strength and take my party onwards. For as long
as the Necromancer breathes, death will come to all.

Dunwich
03:36
|

Through the trees, our hero rides on
To the town of Dunwich
Following the Necromancer
His banishment will cometh
On the edge of the forest
In the wake of evil
Our hero's party appears
Searching for a seer
Can you show us the way
The wizard found the monks of Dunwich
They revealed to him secrets of black magic
Visions of the tallest tower
Holding all the Necromancer's power
We must rest, the wizard said
Before we journey onward
Make a plan, prepare for battle
Discuss what we have heard
We have found the way
The wizard found the monks of Dunwich
They revealed to him secrets of black magic
Visions of the tallest tower
Holding all the Necromancer's power
Their path is laid
Our heroes march on
No time to stay
Death has been called upon
The wizard found the monks of Dunwich
They revealed to him secrets of black magic
Visions of the tallest tower
Holding all the Necromancer's power
And our heroes left Dunwich, setting out towards the Necromancer's tower. They knew within their hearts that this would be no easy task.
No longer in the forest, they could see across the barren lands,
and in the horizon erected a tower as tall as the mountains

Moonlight Ritual
03:32

The monks of Dunwich performed a ritual under moonlight the night before we set off to the Necromancer's tower. A ritual that would help conceal us from his gaze. The following morning
we readied ourselves for the journey across the barren wastelands. Since our Dwarves were not accustomed to riding by horse we would set out on foot. It would take us several days to reach our
destination, we could only hope the ritual the monks performed would last that long. We could feel the end of our quest coming close to an end although we did not know what laid in wait
for us in the tower. We could feel the presence of evil the closer we got to the tower. It pierced through the horizon and beyond the clouds, casting a shadow that swallowed everything
in darkness.
We would not let this deter us from reaching our goal, stopping the Necromancer and freeing the lands from this abomination. The road has been long and we must travel a little further.
With only a couple days left until we reach the tower the end was in sight. In the distance, just a days journey away, a village was beginning to take shape.
At first glance it looked like a place we could take a quick rest but the smell of smoke was beginning to fill the air. We feared the worst for the people of this village.
No doubt the Necromancer made his way through here leaving behind ruins in his wake. The structures that were forming in the distance started to become clear. What was once filled with
life and prosperity now holds the remains of burned down houses and villagers. As he is nameless, so now is this village.
We are now in the ruins of the nameless village. Before moving on to the tower we decide to search the ruins for any survivors.

The Tower
05:16
|
|||
After passing through a village that now lay in ruins, we arrived at the foot of the Necromancer's tower. Unfortunately, the Necromancer was able to sense our presence as we passed through the ruins. He must have been the cause of the village's downfall and in turn left behind a magical ward to warn him when someone was near his tower. By the time we arrived at his doorstep a magical barrier was in place, one meant to stall us as we searched for him. I had no doubt that he barricaded himself at the top. We prepared ourselves for whatever traps the Necromancer laid and made our way into the tower. There was a smell of rotting flesh permeating from the upper floors. The Necromancer must have summoned the villagers as undead guards to stop us from making our way. During our ascension of the tower the magical barrier we entered started taking hold of us. It felt as if we traversed the tower for days, walking up a never ending staircase that ultimately landed us back at the entrance. In reality, we had stayed on the same floor in a trance and only minutes had passed. When I came out of the confusion, I cast a spell on my party to snap us back to reality. A simple yet effective spell it would light our way so we would no longer get lost. While following the lights through the tower the sounds of magic were growing above us. We are almost to the Necromancer. The smell of rotting flesh was also beginning to grow. Soon we faced the undead guards that were summoned from the ruins of the village that laid before the tower. My dwarven companions readied their axes and swiftly felled the undead, allowing their spirits to rest in peace. It was all too easy, a simple obstacle only meant to delay our arrival, but it was to no avail. We made it to the hatch at the top of the tower that would lead us outside and to the Necromancer. The sound of magic has grown louder, a rift was opened. One that connected the world of the living and the world of the dead. There would be more undead that we would have to face after going through the hatch. The plan was simple: the dwarves would tend to the undead while I focused on the Necromancer. There was no more time to waste, we made our way through the hatch. This would be our last encounter with the Necromancer.

Banishment
03:56
|
|||
NECROMANCER: So finally we meet.. I've been expecting you for some time now.
WIZARD: Stay your tongue you wretched fiend. I have not come here to talk.
NECROMANCER: Do you think you will slay me as easily as you did those villagers I raised? Your master should have trained you better..
WIZARD: I will smite you where you stand and close the rift between our worlds. Your foothold upon this realm will come to an end. I stopped you once already, I will stop you again.
NECROMANCER: You may have delayed my progress when you released my grip from the Dragon King's mind but now you are in my domain. I will not be so easily slain.
WIZARD: I am not here to slay you. I am here to banish you back to the underworld. There will be no escaping this time.
NECROMANCER: So be it... arise my undead warriors! Show this old man no mercy...
WIZARD: With my dwarven friends keeping the undead at bay, I focused all my power on the Necromancer. Shielding the dwarves from his magic I am able to recite the last spell that my master taught me. The rift that was summoned by the Necromancer became unstable. The undead warriors were turning into ash, one by one. The spell was working and the Necromancer could not outrun the pull of the imploding rift.
WIZARD: The time has come, denizen of darkness! You hold power here no longer!
NECROMANCER: You fool! I will not be felled so easily. Even if it is from the underworld, I will claim these lands as my own!
WIZARD: When that time comes I will banish you once again.
NECROMANCER: You have other evils to worry about while I wait in the underworld. In time I will be forgotten and then I will rise once more.
WIZARD: I would like to see you try... now begone!
NECROMANCER: Noooo!
WIZARD: The Necromancer has been defeated. The wounds inflicted upon the lands during his wake shall slowly start to mend. My party and I will rest easy tonight knowing that evil has been subdued. The good of man, and dwarf, has prevailed. Although we will rest easy and our quest is finished, I was troubled by the Necromancer's last words. He spoke of other evils in this world... I fear that the worst has yet to come.

First Light
04:06
|
|||
At first light my party and I made our way back down through the Necromancer's tower. It was time to head back home. I would escort the dwarves back to their kingdom of Abrolum and meet with the king once more. The air was finally clear and the evil that scarred these lands was no more. We would make our way back through Dunwich to announce this victory so that the small village could rest easy. Although this quest was over, I couldn't help but think about the Necromancer's last words. Going through the ruins of the village that laid before the tower, smoke was rising above the mountains behind Death's Pass. Since no man had ever returned from that place, I feared that was where a new evil was growing. I would need to meditate on this matter. I have heard some rumblings of a bloodthirsty warlord across the seas, mainly just rumors spread by boatmen from the trade port that shared a border with Death's Pass. There is a possibility that this unknown threat came from the other side. Though this was just hearsay, I would need to investigate it further. But it would have to wait for now. By this time we made it to Dunwich and spread the word that the Necromancer would bother them no more. It was a several days journey from the
tower to Dunwich, so we decided to rest at the inn one more time. We were met with a banquet fit for a king and rested easy that night. It was truly a night to remember, for more than one reason. When we awoke
the next morning a feeling of dread rushed over me. It was as if a great force of good had died over night. Looking over the dwarves faces I could tell they did not feel the same. I would keep this to myself
until I knew what it meant. The villagers of Dunwich had readied horses for us so we could reach Abrolum quicker. The dwarves had been away from their home for quite some time now and they were ready to go back. But in the distance, over Death's Pass, black smoke began to fill the sky. It was so dark that I thought it would even block out the sun itself. Through the smoke I could see what looked like red lightning
striking the mountain tops. The noise it made was like a deep thunder that shook the ground. Regular magic wouldn't create a storm so concentrated like this, not even Necromancy would be able to conjure this. Perhaps something escaped through the rift that the Necromancer created, something that he did not intend on letting loose. In the other direction, towards Abrolum, more smoke was rising. Though this was created by no magic. These fires resembled that of a funeral pyre. There was terror on the horizon and grim news waiting for us back in Abrolum. We readied our horses and headed back home.

Victory is in our hearts
We are done
We have won
The day has come
Comfort in our triumph
Cannot be found
We hear the sound
From all around
Burdens lifted after the war
Were just the calm before the storm
The thunder grows throughout the sky
(throughout the sky)
The clouds turn dark as they pass by
Dread sets in and fills our minds
We don't know why
We can't deny
The fear inside
Burdens lifted after the war
Were just the calm before the storm
The thunder grows throughout the sky
(throughout the sky)
The clouds turn dark as they pass by
Our battle won matters no more
(matters no more)
This is the calm before the storm
The rain falls down
Evil surrounds us there's
No escape
From it's wake
The thunder grows throughout the sky

The clouds turn dark as they pass by
Our battle won matters no more

Reflection

A great tale has unfolded
Not written or recorded
The dust has settled once more
With this they open a new door
And then it came like a rushing wave
An evil unknown to man
It stirs in the darkness awaiting the time
To show itself across the land
These stories are unwritten
Part of a large collection
There is no omission
What lies within his reflection
His journey has ended
He will become transcended
Watching from the stars
An evil lurking from afar
And then it came like a rushing wave
An evil unknown to man
It stirs in the darkness awaiting the time
To show itself across the land
These stories are unwritten
Part of a large collection
There is no omission
What lies within his reflection
Although his tale is over
A new story unfolds
Told by man and told by the dwarves
Unknown to what the story beholds
Looking down from the stars above
Guiding the dwarves to a brand new place
Where they will forge a new alliance with
A king of man where they will both face
A new evil
And then it came like a rushing wave
An evil unknown to man
It stirs in the darkness awaiting the time
To show itself across the land
These stories are unwritten
Part of a large collection
There is no omission
What lies within his reflection
As our wizard leaves this world and transcends above the skyline
He will begin a new journey in a new place
Far beyond the earth he will watch over mankind
As he reflects on this unwritten tale

After defeating the Necromancer, I went back to my master's hut to conduct some research on everything that just happened. There was a moment where the world seemed at peace. With an evil unknown presence growing in the far east, this moment would not last. Just south of the trade port and to the east of the Necromancer's tower, there was a place called Death's Pass. Little is known about this area due to the
fact that everyone who ventures there never comes back. The only way in is to traverse a narrow path nestled between two mountains made of razor sharp rock. The unidentified evil had made it's home beyond
Death's pass, hence the reason why it was unknown. The shooting star that was seen years after the death of the dwarven king was in reality a great warrior. This great warrior would in turn complete a most
difficult trial in order to return back home. During this trial is when the unknown evil began to awaken. Luckily for the dwarves, the Dragon King had regained most of his strength by the time the great warrior completed her trial. The dwarves would be safe for sometime with the Dragon King watching over the lands once more. There would be a time though, where this evil would overcome the power of the dwarves and the dragon king. Without myself being on earth, and without the great warrior, the dwarves would need to seek help elsewhere. The rest of the inhabitants in the surrounding lands are just mere men who live a simple life. Armed with just pitchforks and soothsayers, they would be of little help in this new fight against evil. Although I will reside in a place no mortal can reach I can still offer guidance when the time comes. The lands the dwarves reside in has no name, for none has ventured beyond the sight of the mountain. Nothing was known about the outlying area. Little did they know, a great kingdom lead by man resided several hundred miles north of the mountain in a land called Muidora. These lands held the great Ewedian Empire with king Geoffrey at the helm. The dwarves did not know this, but if the unknown evil were to take over Abrolum it would undoubtedly take over the rest of the world. My first task as a transcendent would be to guide the dwarves to Muidora. A young dwarf named Emerick had unknowingly fought beside someone from these lands known as Sir Gallerand. Sir Gallerand was a knight of the king's people and was far away from home when they met. Already having relations with a noble from the Ewedian Empire, it would make the task of seeking an alliance with king Geoffrey much easier. But this story is for another time, and to be told by someone else. My time in the mortal realm has come to an end and with it, so has this story. No matter how great an evil there is in this world, it can always be overcome. You just need a sliver of hope... and some magic by your side.
